"All You Need Is Love..."

Spring is amazing...is it not?! Excluding the excessive amounts of pollen any and everywhere you go, everything about spring is wonderful. Today I was walking enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather. I passed another student with a Beatles t-shirt on that said "All You Need Is Love."

It's not only a catchy phrase, but also a beautiful statement. It is truth. But I can't help but feel sad when I hear the song. So many who don't know Jesus "live" by the phrase. As Christians, we like to think that if you don't know God, you can't know love. Though I definitely agree with this statement to an extent, I also disagree. What about the marriages, the friendships, the families of those who don't know and acknowledge the love of God? Is it not genuine? Not lasting?

Whether you know the Lord or not, He created the world. Thus, His love flows throughout the world. God is love; God is goodness. Anything we experience that is truly good or loving is from Him- that is an amazing thought! As someone once told me, hell is a place that has none of God's presence- that is terrifying. It makes sense though; the place that is hopeless and loveless (just a few of the many disturbing adjectives) is God-less. Though there are people on earth who don't know the Lord, or choose to not know Him, they are still in a place that His presence flows through; thus, they can experience love.

In addition to telling us to love our enemies (Luke 6:27), Jesus also commands us to love each other (John 15:17). The more I fall in love with Jesus and pursue Him, the more that His love flows naturally through me. It's true, "all you need is love," but the right kind of love. Despite what someone believes on earth, it is possible for them to experience and feel love. But will you find the love that is eternal? I hope that everyone falls in love with Christ, as opposed to just "feeling" love on earth; I hope that everyone loves Christ so that they may live in a love-filled eternity rather than a love-less one.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God......This is love: not that we loved God, but that he first loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." -1 John 4:7;10
