Home Sweet Home

Today was one of the best days I've had in a while, and thats simply because I did nothing but hang out with my family the whole day. Saving up absences in my classes ended up being VERY clutch for this semester. I decided to cut out of Raleigh early Friday, and I'm actually going to be hanging out with my family in Charlotte until Tuesday. Some call it skipping classes; I like to refer to it as taking a personal holiday. Really though, in all seriousness, this has been such a refreshing time. I've been able to hang out with my family and just recharge my batteries.

I couldn't really sleep this morning so I woke up early and went to the Y... at 7:30a.m. That's pretty freaking weird, right? Who does that? I have always wondered what crazy people wake up that early on Saturdays to go; since I was "one of them" today, I can tell you the answer: no one. There were like 5 people there. Mostly old grandpa's on the elliptical with max of resistance 2.
Cat and I met my brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Claire for coffee at a local coffee shop. It was so fun just to hang out with them and catch up. Naturally Andrew kept drinking my iced white mocha, but since he was pretty precious and bought it for me, I couldn't swat his hand away like normal. Afterwards, Cat and I went for pedicures. You all will be proud to know that I didn't kick any of the precious Asian ladies in the face when they were rubbing the bottoms of my feet- it was a close call though. It took squeezing Cat's hand about as hard as I would if I was giving birth. I opted for OPI's "hot & spicy." (Arriba!)

After pedicures, we met my parents for lunch at McAllisters. Not kidding people, my parents keep that place in business. My dad loves their sweet tea more than anything. After lunch I ran some errands with my mom (I got some stuff for New Zealand! ow ow!), and went to my aunt's to have a girl's day and watch "say yes to the dress."

One thing my mom has taken up since I left for school freshman year: renovating something in our house CONSTANTLY. First the windows, then my parent's bedroom, followed by the front porch, and then the kitchen. Her most recent escapade has been all of the bathrooms. I've got to hand it to her though, she has some great taste. Last time I was home, our bathroom was straight out of the 90's. It had wallpaper (do people still use that??) with some creepy islands on it, old faucets, outdated tile, and a pretty sick looking tub- not the good kind of sick. My mom had it painted, retiled, re-tubbed (umh, I think that's a word...), and she added all new cute rugs and such. Here is the newest version that you can't help but love:

I finished out the night drinking hot chocolate and reading the Maid of Honor book I bought off of Amazon. It was the perfect day! Well, a perfect day for me at least. It was the ideal day when I think if "home sweet home."
